03 · DISABILITY, ASHA & GIRLS’ HOSTELS

Disability grant described in the 2024 article

The article lists ₹5,000 for medically boarded-out personnel of all ranks whose disability is attributable to service in field, high-altitude or counter-insurgency / counter-terrorism areas. This separate figure is not confirmed on the current official grant page; obtain current eligibility and sanction details from AWWA before relying on it.

ASHA schools

Special education, rehabilitation and training support for eligible children with disabilities, including intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, speech / language difficulties, hearing impairment, learning disability, autism and multiple disabilities.

ASHA Pre-Vocational Training Centre, Delhi Cantt

Skills and vocational preparation for children / young people with special needs. Confirm intake criteria, assessment and availability directly with the centre.

AWWA girls’ hostels

Residential support for daughters of serving and retired Army personnel of all ranks pursuing higher education. Check admission rules and vacancies with the specific hostel.

Historical scope: the July 2024 article reported 37 ASHA schools, 12 disability categories and five girls’ hostels. These counts are not presented as a verified 2026 directory.

04 · AWWA — FORMS, DOCUMENTS & SUBMISSION

Use the AWWA educational / financial assistance form — July 2026. It covers the soldier, applicant / NoK, family finances, pension / employment income, past assistance, bank details and school information. Use block letters and complete all applicable fields.

  • Common records: widow / dependant ID, attested discharge book with family details, PPO and bank passbook first page / cancelled cheque.
  • Education: separate application for each child; death certificate, attested child photograph, school / college ID, previous marks, current tuition receipt and principal-certified bonafide certificate.
  • Marriage: marriage card plus common records.
  • Disaster: affected-house ownership proof, competent-authority damage / cause certificate and assessed repair estimate, alongside identity and service records.
  • Penury: financial-distress details and common records; disclose other assistance.

Get countersignature from Station Headquarters / an Army unit and route through ZSB / RSB. The form states 31 December as the education-application receipt deadline; confirm the relevant academic year’s closing date with AWWA. Veer Naris and eligible post-retirement widows / dependants may seek assistance where they do not qualify for a similar grant elsewhere, subject to assessment.

05 · AGIF — EXTENDED INSURANCE RULES

AGIF is the Army Group Insurance Fund. Its EI scheme started on 01/01/1981 for eligible post-retirement Army cover. Navy and Air Force have separate insurance arrangements.

Officers₹30 lakh₹2,75,00026 years after retirement / age 80
JCOs / OR₹15 lakh₹1,20,00030 years after retirement / age 75
  • Earlier retirees retain their applicable cohort’s cover; later enhancements are not automatically retrospective.
  • Cover is for death within the policy term. Refund / survival provisions depend on the applicable cohort and Certificate; not every contribution is non-refundable.
  • Keep the EI Certificate: it records personal details, certificate number / issue date, nominee and contingent nominee details and the cover period.
  • The 2024 article describes suspension during re-employment where another service insurance cover applies. Confirm the specific re-employment category with AGIF; do not assume every civilian job suspends EI.
06 · EI — EARLIER RETIREMENT COHORTS

This transcribes the retirement-wise chart in the June 2024 reference article. Each limit means years since retirement OR the age shown, whichever occurs first. The “refundable” column is the chart’s classification, not a blanket refund promise. Check the individual EI Certificate and AGIF policy.

*The old chart said “01/06/2022 onwards”. Its last range is bounded here by the separately verified 01/04/2025 revision in section 05. Historical cover may already have expired.

07 · EI — DEATH CLAIM & DOCUMENTS
  1. Notify AGIF of the pensioner’s death and quote Army number, rank, identity and EI Certificate number.
  2. Check the recorded nominee / contingent nominee and whether death falls within cover.
  3. Submit the current EI claim application / certificate claim portion with the required records.
  4. If the Certificate is missing, ask AGIF for its duplicate-certificate / affidavit procedure; do not assume the claim is lost.
  5. Retain copies and acknowledgement; follow up directly with the claims section.

Reference checklist: death certificate from the registering authority (the article also mentions Military Hospital-issued certificates), Aadhaar, EI Certificate if available, beneficiary-named cancelled cheque or bank-passbook copy, and contact details. For non-nominee / contingent-nominee claims, the prescribed claim affidavit and indemnity bond with surety may be required. AGIF must confirm which documents apply to the claimant.

The loan email in the article appears misspelled; obtain the current address from AGIF rather than relying on that entry.

09 · FRAUD PREVENTION

Do not transfer money to release an alleged AGIF refund, claim or bonus on the strength of an unsolicited call / message. Verify the caller independently through official AGIF contacts. Do not share OTPs or banking credentials. The 2024 article specifically warns that AGIF will not ask you to deposit cash to retrieve your money.

10 · WHAT CHANGED SINCE THE 2024 ARTICLES

The articles remain useful for their scheme categories, but several amounts / eligibility statements have changed. These historical figures are retained for comparison only.
